Land of Broken Hearts: Story. Continues…
André: Next thing was a photosession… ( believe it or not but we recently met the photographer who took our pictures 25 years ago – Christian Nørgaard (thanks Facebook!). We decided to pay him a visit and were quite surprised to discover that he actually had all the negatives from that day – what were the chances?!
Now to the point WHY he kept these negatives for so long:
As I wrote in the previous update – we were pretty much broke at the time, playing clubs for some change – so hiring a professional photographer wasn?t easy…
To make a long story short: Steen called a few guys up and told them upfront that we needed photos but had no cash and – just like every other band – promised to pay in full when the record deal would be secured (not very original by any standards but hey… at least he tried 🙂 Anyway, Christian was the only one who – for the reason he still can’t explain today – agreed and in a few days we had our mugs immortalized professionally.
As Christian recently told me he wasn’t expecting to see us again – ever – so off he went with his day-to-day activities, gradually forgetting the episode only to be mighty surprised a few months later, when Steen called him up again and asked what time he could drop by to pay the bill.
In Christian’s own words that kind of thing never happened to him in his entire professional carrier, so he kept these pictures for 25 years simply as a souvenir of sorts… thanks to him and good for us as now we can use them all for our vinyl edition of LOBH.
Great photography indeed… Love from Greece
A few people ask the same question: Why only FOUR people on those pictures, who’s missing?
They didn’t have permanent guitarist back then – that’s why only 4 guys pictured. So on the album guitar parts shared between different session guitar players & Andre himself. Hope he will explain in details who’s played on which song 🙂
How awesome and I am so pleased you paid the bill!
Paying bills has always been a rule 🙂
The location appears to be Frederiksborg Slot. I love this beautiful castle, a perfect location for Royal Hunt 😀
Good point Yuki, – castel is a quite “royal” thing itself 🙂
Thank you very much for having shared these photos!
Amazing how Christan would keep them all these years…
It is a really good thing that these photos were actually used for the new LP release 🙂
All artworks were sent to the plant
“black hole”let’s see what’s going to come out 🙂Wonderful Story!!!
