I’d like to say a few words about the new album. (Just my emotional remarks :))
I have listened to it for several times and must admit that some songs have a very catchy melody which keeps resounding in my mind right after the first listening and long after I have finished doing it. One of them “Fistful Of Misery” is a great opening song! It would be a good option for a live show, because it makes people sing along. The guitar solo is amazing! Bravo Jonas!!!
“The Last Soul Alive” and “A Million Ways To Die”. I have already written about them before, but want to add about the last one. It feels like D.C. is staying in his comfort zone while singing this song . He enjoys it. This song lets him demonstrate an open flying vocals which I like so much and it sounds really fantastic. The combination of emotionally strong music and philosophical lyrics is a secret weapon of Royal Hunt. So these 3 songs are my absolute favorites and it would be great to hear them on the concert during the upcoming tour.
“Sacrifice” is a puzzle song for me. The beginning is beautiful, with swinging melody but the rest haven’t hooked me yet… Let’s speak about it after the 10th circle of listening. Maybe I will get it:)
“The Wishing Well” is a good song with a complex multi-layered musical structure, with long solos and very strong rhythm section. It makes a heart beat in the pulse of the song. Now I understand why Andreas likes it. Some music grabs our attention from the first note, because it’s simple, clear, everything is on the surface. In case of this song the beauty comes from within, we just need to dig a bit deeper to feel it. When you reach a certain depth you can’t stop listening. In the end you are like “Wow! A cool song!”.
“Cast in Stone” – a beautiful instrumental composition. It has always been one of the strongest side of Royal Hunt music and we have one more confirmation of this fact.
“Rest in Peace”. To be honest it reminded me some songs from the previous albums and this identity didn’t let me estimate the song properly from the first listening. Now I want to admit that it sounds good within the context of the whole album.
“Save me II” – Everything new is well-forgotten old. LOL. Well, a new version of the old song with the beautiful female vocals! Why not?
I would rather have another new song #8 and Save Me II would be a pleasant bonus.:)
I was listening to this song few times, I guess I like it!
The song is ok. But i don’t like the guitarsolo in the middlepart. I wish more Keyboardsolo’s.
Sounds like coming home, thats the royal hunt sound that I like. Cant waít mutch longer for the album to find in the mailbox.
It’s amazing, mid-tempo, classy Royal Hunt song where vocals and all the instruments are in harmony with each other. It is easier for listening than the previous one, it has more catchy melody. I still hear it in my head and start singing along with DC. :-). To be honest I like that there are no extremely high notes and difficult passages but it sounds emotionally very strong.
Can’t wait to listen to the whole album! Now I’m sure it will great!
I follow Royal Hunt since 1996. Moving Target and Fear are my favoritue album from the RH Discography. Songs like Faces Of War (the Keyboardsounds and Arrangements are a Masterpiece and The solo Of The song remember me Rondo Veneziano!)
I like this new song, but i missed in the middlepart a classical keyboardsolo. André Andersen give Jonas to much Space for guitarsolo’s! And no, Jonas is not Jacob Kjaer (One of my favoritue Guitarplayer). André Andersen is One of The greatest Songwriter!
“A Million Ways to Die”, a lot more melodic and easier to listen to “imo” than the previous song. New and old at the same time, I feel at home, relaxed and comfy with my new slippers on when listening to “A Million Ways to Die”, hah, unlike the first song that sounded a lot messier in my ears, it’s not bad – but not af comfy to listen to as this one.
Royal Hunt, the faith from an old and gumpy fan out of Denmark has been restored 🙂

Oh his majesty Hammond organ… This sound is a “must” for any hard rock composition. This song is classy Royal Hunt, I’m overwhelmed by the epic ending. Thanks for arranging this pre-listening.
Though it’s a classic riff, I hear only in “royal hunt”.
there is momentum like “Paper Blood” for a keyboard solo.
Even February 7 is a little more.
My english is not perfect, but this is how I feel: After the first listening, I feel that the solo is a bit like the sound of the paperblood. But other basic rhythms and vocals are not synchronized. Not really catchy, what I’ve become accustomed to so far.
I hope this is not the best song on the album.

If all songs in this albom sound like this one does – I can say already now, that I like this album more than “Devil’s Dozen”
But it was just the first listening…
